The Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) method uses electrical impedance to estimate body fat percentage and other data. The estimation formula assumes that the relative proportions of muscle, water, and bone in the body are consistent for everyone. However, in reality, the proportions of these tissues vary among individuals, resulting in certain inaccuracies in the measurement results.
The body fat data obtained using the BIA method is not equivalent to data obtained through medical methods. It should be used as a reference for monitoring changes in one’s body fat percentage.
